The Discipline That Built Everything
Discover The Power of Weekday Writing
For the last few months I've been writing and publishing an article every weekday morning.
7 a.m. sharp on Substack.
7:10 a.m. on Medium.
Same words. Same ritual. Same rhythm.
Before that - for years - I published content daily on my portfolio of content sites. (Before the Google Gods frowned upon me).
Why?
Because I needed it.
Not just to build a newsletter, brand and income. But to build the one thing that’s carried me through 25 years of online business:
Persistence.
You see, I’ve been at this a long time.
Since 1999, I’ve written sales letters, built niche sites, run ecommerce stores, created podcasts, ghostwritten blogs, launched products, and everything in between.
And if there’s one lesson that’s stuck?
It’s this:
Talent is optional.
Persistence is everything.
Most people dabble.
They quit before the first breakthrough.
They hit “publish” once and wonder where the traffic is.
But the game changes when you show up every day.
A daily writing practice isn’t just a productivity trick—it’s a training ground.
It trains you to sit down and create even when you don’t feel like it.
It trains your audience to expect you at the same time, like clockwork.
It builds momentum.
It builds trust.
It builds resilience.
Even if the writing feels flat today, you’ve done the rep.
Even if nobody reads it, you’ve carved a groove in your identity.
You’re becoming the kind of person who finishes things.
And that’s rare - because the pressures of daily life are real.
Especially if you're working a job you hate, juggling family life, chasing freedom in 30-minute bursts before the kids wake up.
If you want to win this game, show up more than everyone else.
At the same time. On the same channel. With the same voice. Five days a week.
That’s what I’m doing—using AI to help me plan and research, then crafting and editing my posts with a human hand.
I call it AI-augmented authentic voice writing. That’s a bit of a mouthful, but it saves time, sharpens focus, and keeps my voice intact.
Don't think that makes me a real writer. Don't care.
The ideas and craft are still mine - just like the millions of words I wrote for hundreds of clients over the last 25 years before AI even existed. (Or in my case before digital even existed).
But the real win?
That daily post at 7 a.m.
Because when you hit publish again and again…
You become unstoppable.
