The 10 Commandments of Being a Creator
With Thanks To deadmau5
When I was younger — teens, twenties, even my thirties — house music was my heartbeat (still is).
I’d lose whole nights dancing and find myself again when the sun came up.
Deadmau5’s ‘I Remember’ still takes me back every time (amongst so many other great tunes).
So I took the '10 Commandments of Being a Raver' from the old video which accompanies this song and gave them a twist — for creators like us.
(It's also great to see Stephen Graham still going strong, what a great actor)...
1. Location Location Location
Pick your platform wisely. Where you show up shapes who finds you.
2. Seize the Day
Start before you’re ready. Publish now — refine later.
3. It’s Not Where You’re From, It’s Where You’re Going
Your past doesn’t define your next post. Show us where you’re heading.
4. Fear Nothing
Fear kills more ideas than failure ever could. Create anyway.
5. Send the Word Out to Those Who Believe in It
Talk to your people. Build your list. Keep it tight, keep it real.
6. Stand Up and Let Your Voice Be Heard
Say what you mean. Even when it’s hard. Especially then.
7. Reject the Mainstream
No bland, mass-made fluff. Make it yours — make it hit.
8. Never Fail
If you keep going, you haven’t failed. Learn, pivot, post again.
9. Make Sure the Music is Bang On
The beat matters — so does your message. Keep it on point.
10. It’s Your Choice
No distractions. No excuses. It’s your craft — own it.
