7 CTA's That Drive Action
I’ve been doing this for over two and a half decades.
Copywriting for global brands, startups, solopreneurs — across websites, landing pages, sales funnels, email sequences, entire campaigns.
And in all that time, I’ve never changed my mind on one thing: every piece of content you publish must pull its weight.
If it doesn’t, it’s dead weight.
It’s the same whether you’re writing a blog post, an email, or a LinkedIn update. If there’s no point — no clear objective — it shouldn’t exist.
Dead Pages Society
I once had a finance client with a site full of “filler” pages their previous agency had added to their website for SEO purposes.
No CTA’s, just thin, keyword stuffed fluff that was driving zero traffic and no doubt doing more harm than good.
I did a content audit and the conversation went something like this:
“What’s the point of this page?”
Silence. Shrugs.
“And this page?”
The same response.
We quickly established that 80% of their site consisted of dead pages that drove no traffic or action at all.
So we simply cut, repurposed or redirected the dead wood, improved the 20% of pages that were getting visitors, and used strong CTA’s on them to increase conversions.
What’s The Point of Your Content?
They key is, if you don’t know the point of what you’re writing, neither will your reader.
And if there’s no point, there’s no action. Which means there’s no result.
The same rule applies when you’re building your content business.
If you publish an article without a clear call to action — you’re neglecting future growth.
What makes a good CTA?
It’s more than a lazy “join my list.”
Here are seven real-world CTA ideas that work — that you can adapt for your own writing:

This is the game.
Every piece of content must do its job. Tell a story, deliver a lesson, then drive action.
