Are You a Goldilocks Writer?
Use your own moral compass to find the “just right” way to write with AI
Once upon a time in the digital forest, Goldilocks wasn’t searching for perfect porridge, the most comfy chair, or the ideal bed...
She was trying to write an article.
She opened her laptop, logged into ChatGPT, turned on the mic and said:
“Write me a 1,000-word blog post on the pros and cons of reintroducing wild bears to the Scottish Highlands.”
Seconds later, it was done. Technically correct and structurally sound. But emotionally flat and in need of a fact checker.
“This is too hot,” she said, pushing it away.
“It doesn’t sound like me. It doesn’t feel like mine!”
So she tried the opposite. She brewed a coffee, stared at the blank page, and opened 47 tabs for research.
She outlined, wrote, edited, fact-checked, and formatted…
Four hours later, she had a pretty good draft but was exhausted and uninspired.
“This is too cold,” she sighed. "It's not ready to publish in the Grimm Gazette at all - and I'm on a bloody deadline!" (Yes dear reader, she could be awfully crude sometimes, especially after a couple of ciders).
Then Goldilocks found her groove.
She used AI to research the topic and create an outline.
Then she drafted section by section in her own voice, letting AI jump in with suggestions and polishing lines where needed.
She brought her own stories, her own rhythm and her own heartbeat.
And when it was done?
“This one feels just right," she said. "The Brothers will be pleased!"
So why are we talking fairy tales when you're trying to build a serious content business?
Because this one has a pointy moral hidden in its pages.
Because like Goldilocks, every writer using AI needs to find their own "just right."
And the only compass that works is your own morality.
Some creators are fine letting AI write entire articles start to finish.
They publish without edits and wonder why the results feel hollow.
Too hot.
Others insist on doing everything manually, even when AI could help them move faster.
They burn time, burn out, and never publish consistently.
Too cold.
The ones who win?
They embrace the Goldilocks zone.
They use AI as a collaborator, not a crutch.
They feed in their voice, their stories, their structure
They co-write section by section
They edit with care, not laziness
They build with intention, not imitation
Because it’s not about what AI can do.
It’s about how much of yourself you’re willing to bring to the process.
The just right zone is different for everyone.
But you’ll know when you’ve found it-
Because it will still sound and feel like your own work.
And that’s the happily-ever-after both you and your audience always wants.
